Leucadendron are popular garden plants that are suitable for many parts of Australia where well draining soil with sandy or gritty texture and added organic material is present. Also soils with low Nitrogen and Phosphorus are beneficial to aiding strong plant growth. They make great garden or large container specimens due to their leaves being simple & leathery and flowers which are small in dense globular or conical heads terminating the branches usually surrounded by a flower like collar of bracts that also vary greatly in size and colour. The flowers are very popular when picked for the vase or in arrangements due to their long lasting colour.
