Description

The Amaryllis Hippeastrum species originated from the sub-tropical areas of South America. A flowering size bulb has up to two stems producing four spectacular, large, colourful trumpets each. They can be grown in containers or directly in the garden. Hippeastrum will remain evergreen year round in sub-tropical and temperate climates where frosts are not experienced, however the bulbs will become fully dormant over the cooler and wetter winter months in colder areas. They are not difficult to grow and produce lovely cut flowers, provided the proper care is given.
