Description

Bearded Iris, also known as Flag Iris are available in a range of sizes varying from Dwarfs that only grow to about 50cm high through Intermediate and Tall types that reach up to 2metres. Flowering in spring to early summer, they produce 1 to 2 large, elegant blooms with ruffled petals on the sparsely branching stems from the main trunk. The flowering stems and lush tropical sword shaped leaves are produced from a creeping rhizome that multiplies rapidly into large clumps. They are a hardy backdrop to all garden locations and can also be potted and brought indoors. Bearded Iris is very frost hardy and easy to grow in a sunny location in just about any temperate to cool climate area.
