Description

Montanoa leucantha ssp arborescens is a striking, large, evergreen, multi-trunked shrub of large, oval, leaves with three lobes, the central lobe long and pointed and clusters of spectacular panicles of scented white flowers in late autumn early winter. It appears to be a very cold hardy variety growing to a height of 3.4m.

Cultivation

As these plants can be frost tender, a position in full sun will produce a good floral display provided the soil is well drained and has ample humus and water added. Prepare the growing site by digging over the soil and adding a good handful of blood and bone, rich compost or well decayed animal manure prior to planting out. Feed every spring as new growth is made. Water in well at planting time and then on an occasional basis to promote growth. After flowering, the plants should be cut back hard. No particular pests or diseases.
