Description

Resembling a small lily, Rose Beauty bears 3 to 5, reflexed, pale to deep pink, star shaped flowers per stem in spring. It has attractive brown mottled green foliage. Growing to 30cm in height, they have great visual effect planted in groups in full sun to light shady positions along garden borders or under deciduous trees. Like many spring bulbs, they are not difficult to grow.

Cultivation

Choose a sunny or only lightly shaded position in organic rich, well drained soil. Prepare the growing site by digging over the soil and adding a good handful of blood and bone, rich compost or well decayed animal manure prior to planting out. Plant them about 25mm deep and 75mm apart in groups. Ensure they have ample moisture during autumn and spring and feed every spring as new growth is made. Protect them from snails and slugs.
