Hostas are herbaceous perennial plants native to northeast Asia. The name Hosta is in honor of the Austrian botanist Nicholas Thomas Host. They are ideal for shady and damp areas in all gardens and for best effect are group planted. Plant from May-Nov with the crown at soil level 10cm apart in a well drained location. Prior to planting work through soil with complete fertiliser and top dress each Spring. Water once per week if rainfall is low. Flowering: Nov – Mar.
